We would welcome the opportunity to walk beside you as you prepare for your marriage, and to celebrate that event in one of our Churches, or in your special place.
St John’s Church, Wagga Wagga
St John’s Anglican Church is found on the hill in Church Street, Wagga Wagga. Our building is over 150 years old, and carries significant history. The West Front of the Church has recently undergone a significant restoration, allowing you a grand-entrance on your wedding day. The interior of the Church has been freshly painted, and the ceilings varnished – a new sound system and lighting are also in place.
The Church stands out for its magnificent bell tower and beautiful slate roof which is nestled in the Eucalypts alongside the river. It is surrounding by lovely and well maintained gardens which are ideal for photos with family and friends, or afternoon tea before you depart to your reception.
As you enter through the large West Front doors into the Narthex of the Church you will walk down our long aisle of fleur-de-lis red carpet. As you enter into the magnificent building, large enough to cater for up to 300 guests, you will walk through over 150 years of history reflected in our windows and furniture.
Your service can use our traditional organ, or our sound system will play your favourite contemporary songs.
As you depart, an optional peal of bells may be heard from our magnificent tower (8 bells) to announce your new life.[hr]
St Luke’s Church, South Wagga Wagga
St Luke’s Church in South Wagga Wagga is conveniently located opposite the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. It is a lovely brick building with a high pitched roof. Internally the Church is white washed with simple stained glass windows that allow in plenty of light. The furniture is simple, and yet amazingly beautiful. The altar is especially significant with the most intricate carvings. The timber is lighter in colour allowing the beautiful grain to be seen in the wood. St Luke’s fits 80 people comfortably and is ideal for your family wedding.[hr]
St Saviour’s Church, Ladysmith
St Saviour’s stands tall in its country setting outside the village of Ladysmith (approx 15 km’s from Wagga Wagga). This lovely brick building has wonderful stained glass and beautiful timber work. It has been loved as a centre of the Parish for over 100 years. If you are looking for a country wedding that is not too far from the city, St Saviour’s is certainly worth a visit.[hr]
Your Special Place
Of course you can also request to have your marriage performed at the place of your choosing within the Parish bounds. There are many beautiful locations along the river, at the Botanical Gardens, or on top of one of the surrounding lookouts.
One advantage of being married by our clergy at your special location is that you always have a church building as a back up – just in case the weather does the unthinkable.
Please note that weddings outside the Church building by an Anglican priest require the permission of the Bishop.[hr]
